Is MS jewelry hypoallergenic and nickel-free?
Yes!
Our Polymer Clay Earring posts are hypoallergenic, 18K gold-plated stainless steel. While stainless steel is not technically nickel free, the amount is very small and coated with a layer of gold. Customers with nickel allergies have not reported any issues.
All other pieces are either 18k gold filled or sterling silver!
What is Polymer Clay?
Polymer Clay is an art medium that is known for its versatility, pliability and simplicity to work with. It is an oven-baked material composed of polymers, resins, coloring agents and fillers. It is man-made from a plastic, a polyvinyl chloride base.
Polymer clay is used by artists ranging from children to professional artists and movie makers so it is very safe to use and wear. When baked correctly, it will not break and strong enough to last a long time!
IMPORTANT: Polymer clay designs and any pieces with natural stones may vary in size, shape, and color as each piece is 100% handmade or naturally unique.
What is Gold Filled?
This type of gold is a great alternative to solid gold because of its price, durability, and versatility for different lifestyles and activities.
Gold filled jewelry contains a 5% solid gold layer mechanically bonded to a base metal making it 100 times thicker than gold plated jewelry.
This makes gold filled jewelry waterproof, hypoallergenic which won’t irritate sensitive skin, and durable for wear. If you take good care of them, your gold filled pieces can last for years!

What is Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is regarded as a precious metal, composed of 92.5% pure silver, making it durable and stronger than solid silver.
It is also hypoallergenic and nickel free, offering a great alternative to solid silver. However, because it is softer than gold filled metals, it can be susceptible to scratches from daily wear if not cared for properly. It can also bend more easily making it more delicate.
Some tarnishing can also occur if exposed to any chemicals or if it hasn't been worn for some time as your nature oils will keep your silver jewelry lubricated. It can be easily cleaned using a polish pad or with a simple at home method.

How do I care for MS polymer clay earrings?
The best part about stainless steel and polymer clay when baked correctly - they are low maintenance, extremely durable, and waterproof!
When caring for your jewelry, there are some things to consider: what your jewelry comes into contact with (cleaning products, water, chemicals, beauty products such as makeup, lotions, hairspray, shampoos) and where you store your jewelry.
We recommend cleaning all your jewelry regularly using warm water, a mild soap (like Dawn), and a soft cloth to dry it out. This should make them shiny and beautiful again. We also recommend storing your jewelry in a plastic or cloth bag, like the ones we send with our pieces!
If cared for properly, our MOJAVE SALT pieces will last for many years.

The best part about 14k gold filled metals is that it is very low maintenance! If cared for properly, MOJAVE SALT pieces will last for many years.
When caring for your jewelry, there are some things to consider: what your jewelry comes into contact with (cleaning products, water, chemicals, beauty products such as makeup, lotions, hairspray, shampoos) and where you store your jewelry.
We recommend cleaning all your gold-filled jewelry regularly using warm water and a soft cloth or rag to dry. This should make it all shiny and beautiful again. We also recommend storing your jewelry in a plastic or cloth bag, like the ones we send with our pieces!
How do I care for MS sterling silver jewelry?
We recommend wearing your sterling silver jewelry daily as your natural oils will keep it looking its best. Should you take off your sterling silver pieces and leave them on their own for sometime, your pieces may start to tarnish. The great thing about sterling silver tarnish is that it can be removed.
For larger silver pieces, you can buff away tanish with a polishing pad. We include one for you in all your sterling silver purchases! This will make it all shiny and beautiful again.
For smaller, more delicate sterling silver pieces like our classic chains that would be harder to polish, we recommend an easy at home method for cleaning off tarnish instead of jewelry cleaner which could actually ruin them:
- Line a small bowl with aluminum foil.
- Place your piece on top of the foil and sprinkle baking soda over it.
- Boil water (we like using our electric kettle for the job) and pour over your piece just enough to cover it. A chemical reaction will occur that will remove all tarnish!
- Carefully remove your piece from the boiling hot water and lay flat on a paper or hand towel until completely dry.
- Wear immediately. You can also store in a small ziploc bag or pouch until you need it.
Are the freshwater pearls genuine?
Yes! We use genuine freshwater pearls that are carefully selected and highly valued for their beautiful sheen and luster.
Can I wear my MS jewelry in water?
Yes! Any piece of jewelry created from 14k gold-filled material or sterling silver can be worn in water, tarnish-free!
While most of our pieces are waterproof, pieces that are exposed to the elements on a daily basis or showered in daily will wear faster overtime.
Do you restock sold out styles?
Once an item sells out, we’ll likely bring back the original style or give it a few design updates.
If a product is labeled "limited release" it is often because it has a natural stone or gemstone that might be hard to find again so the likelihood of that particular item coming back is very low.

Do you collect sales tax?
Yes, sales tax will be collected at checkout if applicable for your location.

When can I expect my order to arrive?
Delivery within the United States takes between 2-7 business days (excluding holidays) depending on your location.
You'll be able to track your package by using the Shipping Confirmation email that we send as soon as your order begins its journey.
Please allow up to 24 hours for the tracking information to become available in the mail carrier’s system after receiving your shipment notification email.
What if my package is delayed?
There could be potential delays due to a high volume of orders, especially holidays, personnel shortage or postal service issues that are outside of our control.
If your order is delayed and we are notified of a delivery date change, we will email you an update and your new estimated delivery date.
My package is lost/missing. What should I do?
We’re sorry you're having issues with your order delivery. Let's fix it together!
If you believe your package is lost in transit:
- Contact the carrier that last had your package.
- If it has been more than 8 business days with no update, please contact our team.
If your tracking says delivered from the carrier:
- Check your mailbox as well as areas around your front door, mailroom, or with your close neighbors.
- Check with the carrier next.
- Still can't find your package? If your package still hasn't turned up 48 hours after delivery, please reach out to our team for further assistance.
Cancellation & Refund Policies
Can I change / cancel my order?
Once an order is shipped, you will receive an email with a tracking number. If you receive this email, we cannot make any changes to your order.

What is your return / refund policy?
We are confident you will love your purchase. However, please contact us at mojavesaltstudio@gmail.com with any questions or concerns once your item is received. We want you to be 100% happy and satisfied with your purchase.
As we are currently a small business that you will be supporting and most items are handmade to order, we offer the following:
- All polymer clay earrings: We do not accept returns or exchanges. All sales are final.
IMPORTANT: Polymer clay designs and any pieces with natural stones may vary in size, shape, and color as each piece is 100% handmade or naturally unique.
- 14-day Return Window: You can return all other items purchased from our website for a refund or store credit within 14 days of the delivery date. All returns must be approved before sending it back and all purchases made at events are final.
- Condition of Returns: To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. It should be unused and in its original packaging (including gifts).
- Return Shipping Cost: Please note that while we are happy to refund or exchange for store credit, we do not cover the cost of return shipping. You will be responsible for the return shipping cost and providing a tracking number for proof of return.
- Upon a successful return, a refund will be processed to your original method of payment. Your refund may take 2-7 business days to reflect in your account.
- Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be canceled.
If there is an error on our part, the item is damaged during shipping, or breaks within two weeks of purchase, we are happy to repair or replace it and cover shipping costs.
